The first bridge will be built at Balongi, parallel to the existing structure on Patiali-ki-Rao, with construction set to begin in February at an estimated cost of Rs 90 million.
The other two bridges, part of a single project, will address congestion near NIPER and Sector 68. The approach road from PCA Mohali to Sector 68 will be straightened, with the existing T-point converted into a crossroad. This transformation will enable seamless traffic movement from PCA Stadium towards Sector 68 and Airport Road, while also improving flow from NIPER to Kumbran crossing.
“These two bridges will eliminate the bottleneck caused by dual carriageways narrowing into a single lane near the current bridge,” said Naveen Kamboj, SE, GMADA. The NIPER-Kumbran road, already being upgraded as a dual carriageway, will also feature the new bridge over N-Choe.
Work orders are expected soon, with all projects designed to ensure smoother, safer traffic movement across Mohali.
