Constructed by the Fire and Fury Corps Engineers, the two bridges span 50 feet in width and 100 feet in length. They reduce the travel distance by approximately 40 kilometres and cut travel time by around two hours for the farthest villages in the Nubra and Shyok valleys.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including military personnel, Nubra Sub Divisional Magistrate Mukul Beniwal, and community members from Charasa, Burma, Kuri, and Murgi villages.
These new bridges are vital for the local population, particularly during the harsh winter months, as they enhance access to essential services and improve overall connectivity in the Siachen region.
