Koilwar–Maner Road: A Smart Revival One of the headline projects is the construction of a double-lane road from Koilwar to Maner, spanning 11 km and costing approximately Rs 713 million. This stretch, positioned along the decades-old Son Security Embankment, will serve as a crucial alternative to the heavily burdened Bihta–Maner National Highway 30. Originally built in the 1970s to shield local populations from Son River floods, the embankment is now being repurposed for modern needs—signaling an innovative use of legacy infrastructure.
Elevated Roads and New Corridors The JP Ganga Path, Patna’s elevated expressway, is being extended from Danapur Camp to Shahpur. This move is expected to ease congestion on the busy Danapur–Digha–Ashok Rajpath stretch. Another highway upgrade is planned on the Son Safety Dam between Shahpur and Maner, creating another option for smooth travel between Danapur, Bihta, and Maner.
Additional upgrades include:
A four-lane Digha–Khagaul Canal Road
A two-lane Naubatpur Canal Road
Improved connectivity from city center to AIIMS via Gola Road and the upcoming Naubatpur road
These new corridors are designed to boost employment, facilitate trade, and improve access to healthcare and education.
Focus on Pedestrian Safety Five new state-of-the-art foot overbridges are in the pipeline, equipped with lifts and escalators to support senior citizens and persons with disabilities. These will be located at:

Secretariat (Punaichak Mor)
Income Tax Golambar
Bhoothnath Mor (near Taramandal and Old Bypass)
Saguna Mor (near St. Karen’s School)
Approved by the Bihar Road Safety Council and managed by the Path Construction Department, these overbridges reflect the government’s focus on inclusive infrastructure and traffic decongestion.
Rs 14 Billion Investment in Urban Development Wrapping up the Pragati Yatra, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar laid foundation stones and inaugurated a series of development projects in Patna district worth Rs 14.04 billion. These include the widening of the Danapur Cantt–Maner–Bihta road and new administrative buildings in 13 blocks. He also visited the Umanath Temple Complex in Barh and emphasized swift execution of these schemes.
