To evaluate the progress of major National Highway projects in Kerala, the Chairman of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Santosh Kumar Yadav, visited the state and conducted an extensive inspection of critical sites in Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam districts. The inspection focused on structurally sensitive zones and areas susceptible to drainage and water-related issues that impact construction quality and public convenience.
Key stretches reviewed included Enchakkal, Kazhakuttom, Chembakamangalam, Kottayam, and Mevaram—many of which involve vertical high-cut terrains and require urgent attention for stability and water flow management. The Chairman was joined by technical experts from the concessionaire, independent engineers, project directors, and the regional officer of NHAI in Kerala.
A high-level review meeting has been scheduled involving all project directors, contractors, consultants, and concessionaires working on National Highway projects in the state. The meeting will focus on fast-tracking project timelines, improving construction quality, enhancing monitoring mechanisms, and reducing disruption to the public.
Santosh Kumar Yadav is also expected to meet the Chief Secretary of Kerala to address challenges affecting highway development. Discussions will centre around resolving bottlenecks, improving inter-agency coordination, and devising strategic interventions to facilitate smoother project execution.
NHAI reaffirmed its commitment to delivering a world-class National Highway network by ensuring high standards of construction and providing seamless travel for road users across India.
