The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has initiated plans to construct a 2.3-kilometre road linking Naurangpur Village to Rampura Chowk on National Highway 48 (NH-48). The stretch will play a crucial role in enhancing access between major residential sectors and villages in the region.
The proposed project, estimated at Rs 390 million, will soon be submitted for administrative approval. According to GMDA officials, the road will be developed as a six-lane, 60-metre-wide carriageway with provisions for footpaths and a drainage system. It will start at Rampura Chowk and connect to the T-point between Sectors 78 and 79, where a dividing road is already in place.
The initiative will significantly improve connectivity for residents of Sectors 78, 79, 80, 79B, and Naurangpur Village, as well as for those from Manesar Police Lines and Tauru. The Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) and the Land Acquisition Officer have already handed over the necessary land, paving the way for construction to begin.
However, the project has faced previous delays due to encroachments and the non-removal of structures on the acquired land, despite compensation being paid to affected landowners. In response, the HSVP carried out demolition drives in March and April 2025, removing 10 shops, a dhaba, and around 25 houses. GMDA’s own enforcement team also undertook land demarcation for road alignment and drainage networks.
“This road will be a vital link connecting the growing sectors along the Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) to NH-48,” a senior GMDA official stated. “We have also rehabilitated and upgraded most roads in developing sectors, while major road upgrades in Old Gurugram are progressing swiftly.”
Once completed, the new stretch is expected to streamline traffic movement, bolster last-mile connectivity, and support urban growth in Gurugram’s expanding metropolitan zone.
