The Bihar government has approved 11 new infrastructure projects worth Rs 1.3 billion to improve road and bridge connectivity across 10 districts, Road Construction Minister Nitin Naveen announced on Thursday. These initiatives form part of the state’s wider strategy to boost infrastructure and streamline transportation across both rural and urban areas.
Minister Naveen noted that under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s leadership, the department is making sustained efforts to build a more connected and developed Bihar.
The key approved schemes include:
- Jamui: Construction of the Sono Garka Pathar Path and a Bailey bridge with approach roads over the Barnar River.
- Nalanda: Widening and strengthening of the Dhanoli–Rahui road via Khirouna.
- Vaishali (Hajipur): Upgradation of the Adhab Bouk–Sherpur Naya Madhuan road.
- Muzaffarpur: Construction of a drain system along a 32 km stretch of the Runnisaidpur–Katra–Quetsa road, specifically from Gangiya Bazar (Ram Narayan Sah’s Dera) to Ganiya High School.
- Patna: Widening and upgradation of the corridor from Sapna Cinema Mor to Ramna Maidan via Shivganj, Barimathia, Shaheed Mangal Singh Chowk, and the Town Police Station.
These projects are expected to significantly enhance transportation infrastructure, reduce congestion, and support Bihar’s long-term development goals.
