Once completed, the road will serve as a direct link between the Darrang district headquarters in Mangaldoi and the Udalguri district subdivision headquarters in Bhergaon, reducing travel distance between the two by 7.2 km. The improved route will also provide better access to seven educational institutions, including Deomornoi College, and will boost connectivity to key tourist attractions such as the Pathurighat Krishak Shahid Memorial, Khotora Satra, Lakhimpur Pukhuri, and Ramgaon Pukhuri.

NESIDS (Roads) is a vital component of the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme, aimed at strengthening infrastructure in India’s North Eastern Region. Fully funded by the Government of India, the scheme is closely monitored by MDoNER in coordination with respective state governments.

MDoNER continues to play a pivotal role in driving development in the region through four flagship initiatives — the PM-DevINE Scheme, NESIDS (Roads), NESIDS–Other Than Roads Infrastructure (OTRI), and the Schemes of the North Eastern Council (NEC).
