Shri Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways, detailed the Government’s vision for sustainable transportation, saying, “As the world’s third-largest automobile industry, India must prioritise comfortable public transport. We will maintain global alignment on BS7 and CAFE norms to tackle air pollution. Transitioning to biofuels reduces crude imports and boosts farmer incomes. Over 300,000 vehicles have been scrapped under the scrappage policy, benefiting industry, government, and the environment.”
Addressing the 65th Annual Convention of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), Shri Gadkari emphasised the pivotal role of sustainable mobility in achieving Viksit Bharat by 2047.
He added, “Logistics costs will fall to single digits by year-end. Road safety remains vital; public campaigns and NGO engagement are essential to improve behaviour and prevent accidents. Individuals assisting road accident victims, the ‘Rah-Veers’, will receive Rs 25,000, alongside insurance coverage up to Rs 1.5 lakh for victims.”?
