Odisha’s Works Minister, Prithiviraj Harichandan, has announced a November deadline for the completion of the road project connecting Sundarpada with Jatni. The 13.5-kilometre stretch is slated to be developed into a four-lane road to improve traffic flow and regional connectivity.
While reviewing progress, Harichandan met with departmental officials, the Chief Engineer, the contracting agency, and local residents to discuss measures to expedite construction. He emphasised the need for a comprehensive action plan to meet the deadline and address associated concerns such as drainage, sewage, and electricity requirements that may arise during the road-widening works.
A government statement highlighted that the Sundarpada-Jatni road project will significantly enhance local infrastructure, supporting economic development and providing smoother transportation for residents and commuters. It also noted that advanced infrastructure and robust communication systems are key to the state government’s vision of a developed Odisha by 2036. Ekamra Bhubaneswar MLA Babu Singh and former minister Suresh Kumar Routray attended the review meeting.
