Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 17 development projects in Patna district, signalling the state government's continued emphasis on infrastructure, tourism, and welfare in the lead-up to the Assembly elections.
Of the projects launched, 12 belong to the power sector and four to the tourism department, showcasing a multi-sectoral development agenda.
The centrepiece of the event was the inauguration of Bihar’s first cable suspension bridge across the Punpun River, constructed at a cost of Rs 830 million. Inspired by Rishikesh’s Laxman Jhula, the new structure has already earned the nickname “Laxman Jhula of Punpun” among locals.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary said,
“This bridge will benefit pedestrians, small vehicles, and pilgrims attending the Pitru Paksha fair.”
Chief Minister Kumar also opened the Jananayak Karpuri Thakur Library at Dulhin Bazaar, where he interacted with families receiving social security pensions.
“Many mothers and sisters expressed their gratitude for our welfare schemes,” he said.
The inauguration event drew enthusiastic participation from women holding placards thanking the CM for initiatives such as 125 units of free electricity and pension benefits.
Also present were Energy Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Water Resource Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, JD(U) National General Secretary Shyam Rajak, and State General Secretary Arvind Kumar Singh (Chhotu Singh).
The Patna announcements are part of Nitish Kumar’s pre-election development push, which recently included the launch of projects worth Rs 8.99 billion in Gaya and Rs 12.04 billion in Saran.?
