The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) will undertake a major road widening project to improve connectivity between Kanpur Road and the Anant Nagar housing scheme, with an estimated investment of Rs 350 million. The initiative also includes the construction of road dividers, RCC drains, and a trench to support better traffic flow and drainage.

During a site inspection on Wednesday, LDA Vice-Chairman Prathamesh Kumar instructed officials to expedite the project once no-objection certificates (NOCs) are obtained from the Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDC) and the Public Works Department (PWD).

Need for the Project
Kumar noted that the Naderganj industrial area, managed by UPSIDC, experiences heavy truck and trailer traffic, which causes extensive damage to roads and leads to potholes and waterlogging during the rainy season. To address these issues, RCC roadwork will be undertaken in flood-prone zones.

Project Details
  • A 24-metre-wide road will be constructed from Kanpur Road to Naderganj industrial area.
  • A two-kilometre-long, 18-metre-wide road will be widened between Naderganj Turn–Amausi Bridge and Kisan Path–Samda Police Outpost.
  • A 220-KVA substation will be set up in Sector 6 at a cost of approximately Rs 98.9 million.
  • Tenders have been floated for park development, and streetlight installation on 12-metre-wide roads is currently underway.
Progress and Oversight
LDA Chief Engineer Navneet Sharma reported that the Vice-Chairman reviewed ongoing land acquisition and engineering activities during the site visit. The construction of sewer lines, drains, and roads measuring 18 metres and 24 metres wide in Sectors 4 and 5 was found to be progressing satisfactorily.

Kumar has directed the land acquisition team to resolve any issues that might delay the roadwork and ensure timely execution.
This infrastructure upgrade is expected to ease congestion for industrial traffic in the Naderganj belt and enhance the connectivity of Anant Nagar with Kanpur Road, improving both commuter convenience and industrial operations in the area.?
