The Kherki Daula toll plaza on the Delhi–Jaipur National Highway will now be relocated to Sehrawan, near Manesar, beyond the NSG complex, according to officials from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). This decision comes in response to strong opposition from residents of 60 villages who had earlier rejected the initial relocation plan to Pachgaon, demanding instead a flyover for better local access.
The move, approved by the Union Transport Ministry in May 2025, was finalised following detailed discussions between the NHAI and the Haryana state government. Sehrawan, located approximately 13 km from the current toll location, has now been designated as the site for the new automated tolling system.
Land Allocation and Construction
The Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) has agreed to provide 28 acres of land for the new facility on the left-hand side of the highway from Jaipur to Delhi. The demarcation of this land is expected to be completed within 10 days. A preliminary inspection has already deemed the site suitable for the project.
Features of the New Toll Plaza
The proposed toll plaza at Sehrawan will feature 12 lanes, along with a traffic control centre, and dedicated infrastructure for operations and maintenance personnel. The toll collection will use a multi-lane free flow system that enables automatic toll deduction via digital tags, eliminating the need for vehicles to stop at the booths.
Interestingly, Pachgaon will also receive a toll plaza of similar design, in line with the original plan, ensuring infrastructure readiness at both locations.
Financial and Environmental Context
The current Kherki Daula toll plaza handles around 44,000 vehicles daily, generating approximately Rs 4.9 million in toll revenue. The shift aims to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow in the area, especially with the upcoming developments around the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway and related logistics infrastructure.
The current decision marks a shift from an earlier 2018 proposal to build a 40-lane toll plaza at Sehrawan, which was scrapped due to opposition from environmentalists concerned about forest land and wildlife corridors. However, the current site has been verified as non-forest land acquired by HSIIDC, with officials confirming that forest areas lie on the opposite side of the highway.
