The project, part of the Pune-Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar Highway Improvement Plan, is designed to reduce travel time between Pune and Shirur from over two hours to approximately 45 minutes.
Financial bids were opened on 7 October, with Welspun quoting 87,450 million, followed by Adani Enterprises at Rs 101,240.7 million and GR Infraprojects at Rs 103,358.2 million. Though Welspun’s bid exceeds MSIDC’s estimate by 45.95 per cent, officials are expected to conduct detailed financial negotiations before granting final approval.
The project was re-tendered following the cancellation of an earlier plan by the MSRDC. Construction is expected to commence by mid-2026 and is likely to take around four years to complete.
Using the existing Pune-Ahilya Nagar highway alignment, the elevated corridor will minimise land acquisition requirements while providing faster connectivity to Samruddhi Mahamarg and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar once completed.
