The new bridge, measuring 7.5 metres in width, will facilitate smooth two-way vehicular movement, expanding the total width of the crossing to 15 metres and easing traffic flow on one of the region’s busiest routes.
Senior PWD officials presented the project details during a review meeting chaired by D. S. Dhesi, Principal Advisor to the Haryana Government, at the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) office last week. Officials said a tender for the project will be floated shortly.
According to GMDA officials, the estimated construction cost has been pegged at Rs 40 million, with the proposal already sent to Chandigarh for approval. Administrative clearance has been granted, and technical approval — including the culvert design prepared by NIT Kurukshetra — has also been received.
In a letter to GMDA, the Executive Engineer of PWD confirmed that the project has received administrative sanction worth Rs 39.4 million. The proposal was forwarded to headquarters on 4 October for final approval, after which the tendering process will begin, and the contract is expected to be awarded by November.
In a parallel development, PWD has awarded a separate Rs 80 million contract for the repair and reconstruction of the Gurugram–Jhajjar Road section between the Basai treatment plant and Shyam Chowk near Dhankot, which connects with the Dwarka Expressway. The work includes stormwater drainage improvements and is scheduled for completion by July next year.
Together, these dual infrastructure initiatives are expected to significantly enhance connectivity and reduce travel delays in the Dhankot corridor, a key arterial route for heavy traffic between Gurugram and Jhajjar.
