In Arunachal Pradesh’s Upper Siang district, Deputy Commissioner Talo Jerang recently inspected the construction of the 82-km Panggo–Jorging Defence Road being executed by NHIDCL through an EPC contractor. The road will provide crucial last-mile connectivity to Army and ITBP outposts at Tango-1 and Tango-2.
Work began on 26 January, and the contractor has completed 15.5 km of formation cutting within ten months, including breast walls and retaining structures across challenging terrain.
Jerang expressed satisfaction with the overall progress and stressed the need for strict quality control throughout the construction process, including sub-grade preparation and layers such as GSB, WMM, DBM and bituminous concrete.
Once completed, the road is expected to significantly strengthen strategic mobility and improve access to remote border regions in the state.
