The suspension follows an incident in which two precast PSC girders collapsed on the six-lane elevated corridor between Aroor and Thuravoor Thekku on NH-66. Reports indicated that one of the girders fell onto a commercial vehicle, resulting in the death of the driver. Ashoka Buildcon received a show-cause notice from NHAI on 26 November 2025 regarding the matter.
The company stated that it denies all allegations suggesting any compromise of public safety. In its exchange filing, Ashoka Buildcon said the incident arose from sudden and unforeseeable circumstances rather than shortcomings in its safety practices. It added that the collapse was triggered by the unexpected failure of a hydraulic jack due to internal seal damage, causing the girder to fall onto a moving goods vehicle.
Ashoka Buildcon is currently assessing the financial implications of the incident and said it will update the exchanges in due course.
At around 12.22 PM, the company’s shares were trading 3.34 per cent lower at Rs 177.82, compared with the previous close of Rs 183.97 on NSE. The stock recorded an intraday low of Rs 173.59.
