Sarma also virtually inaugurated the Model High School at Balijuri Tea Estate and opened community halls and skill development centres at the Kandali, Dhantola and Sagunbahi tea estates. He further laid foundation stones for new buildings at Barhampur and Jamunamukh Higher Secondary Schools.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister outlined ongoing flood-mitigation work along the Kopili river. The water resources department is executing flood-protection projects worth about Rs 800 million, with a focus on strengthening embankments in Barhampur and Jamunamukh to provide long-term relief.
Sarma highlighted his government’s welfare measures, including Orunodoi, Mukhyamantrir Mahila Udyomita Abhiyan, Nijut Moina, and the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Jan Arogya Yojana. He also noted the continued subsidised distribution of pulses, sugar and salt through ration cards to support vulnerable and middle-income households.
