According to civic body data, 3,067 of the 3,456 planned road works—covering 443.63 km—have already been completed. Officials said the remaining stretches are expected to be finished by December 30.
In parallel, tenders have been floated for asphalt overlay works on 1,919 roads covering 25,093 sq metres, also estimated at Rs 2,000 million. These works are currently under execution.
Over the past three years, the Corporation has completed 5,215 road projects across schemes such as the Tamil Nadu Urban Road Infrastructure Programme, Nagarpura Salai Mempattu Thittam, State Finance Commission special fund, and its general fund. These works span 860.69 km at a total cost of Rs 4,150.6 million.
24×7 Drinking Water Supply
The 24×7 drinking water supply scheme is being implemented at an estimated cost of Rs 6,467.1 million across 60 wards that existed before the 2011 expansion of the Corporation limits. Of the 33 overhead tanks planned, 30 have been completed, with the remainder under construction. Of the proposed 75 km of main transmission pipelines, 66.25 km have been laid, while 1,747.63 km of the 1,798 km distribution network has been completed.
Out of 150,000 planned house service connections, 141,062 have been provided. Currently, 95,947 households receive continuous 24×7 water supply, while the remaining connections receive intermittent supply.
Underground Sewerage Works
Under the AMRUT scheme, underground sewerage works in Kurichi and Kuniyamuthur are being executed at a cost of Rs 5,911.4 million. A 30.53 MLD sewage treatment plant has been completed. Of the 41,318 planned house service connections, 7,435 have been provided, leaving 33,883 pending.
In Vadavalli, Veerakeralam, Kavundampalayam and Thudiyalur, sewerage works costing Rs 9,221.6 million are 55 per cent complete, including a 34.92 MLD STP. The project envisages 67,545 house service connections.
Works in Vellakinaru, Chinnavedampatti and Saravanampatti, valued at Rs 3,182.0 million, are also 55 per cent complete, with 16,090 house service connections planned. In the Ondipudur area, projects worth Rs 1,792.8 million have reached 96 per cent completion, with 30,128 house service connections proposed.
