MLA Doda West Shakti Raj Parihar has laid the foundation stone for a road project from Bari to Sewat via Kamlari in the Doda West constituency, sanctioned at a cost of Rs 210 million under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. The project was launched during his visit to Bari village in Marmat Mandal, where he said the road had been a long-pending demand of local residents.

The new road is expected to significantly improve connectivity for the villages of Bari, Sewat, Kamlari and surrounding areas, providing better access to essential services such as healthcare, education and markets. Officials said the project would also support local economic activity and strengthen rural infrastructure in the region.

Addressing residents, Mr Parihar said improving road connectivity in remote and hilly areas remains a key priority, adding that PMGSY projects are transforming rural life by delivering reliable, all-weather roads to far-flung villages. Local residents, public representatives and officials from concerned departments attended the event and welcomed the start of the long-awaited project.

The MLA said the road network expansion reflects the government’s continued focus on infrastructure-led development and inclusive growth in the Doda West constituency of Jammu and Kashmir.
