He emphasised timely execution, strict adherence to quality standards and the adoption of advanced construction technologies to develop sustainable and efficient highway infrastructure. He said the objective was to enhance connectivity and support economic growth while ensuring asset longevity. He directed acceleration of field-level works and strengthening of quality checks through improved construction methodologies.
He further directed officials to undertake comprehensive pre-monsoon preparedness including drainage clearance, slope stabilisation and prompt response mechanisms to minimise disruptions and ensure commuter safety. Officials were asked to enhance monitoring regimes, expand use of mechanised equipment and deploy sensing and testing protocols at project sites. The review called for regular maintenance schedules, contractor accountability and capacity building to uphold performance standards.
The ministry will continue to monitor progress through periodic reviews and stakeholder feedback channels, including reports from regional offices and social media inputs, to ensure corrective action where required. Continued emphasis on climate resilient designs and performance-based delivery is intended to reduce travel time, improve road safety and sustain connectivity for local economies. The measures are expected to strengthen the reliability of the national highway network and deliver smoother journeys for commuters.
