The alignment will begin near Rani-Ka-Sarai village and will extend to the Purvanchal Expressway, providing a direct link that is expected to integrate with the existing expressway network. Completion of the route is planned to form a continuous ring road around Azamgarh, which will allow through traffic and heavy vehicles to bypass congested urban stretches and to reduce pressure on inner-city roads. Local commuters and freight operators are anticipated to gain from smoother flow and improved travel reliability.
The works package includes one flyover, one railway overbridge (RoB), two interchanges, two vehicular underpasses (VUPs), eight light vehicular underpasses (LVUPs) and three minor bridges. The design also provides for service roads measuring 11.6 kilometres and nine kilometres on the respective sides, together with a seven point five kilometre slip road and associated drainage and safety features. A range of ancillary works will support connectivity to nearby settlements and facilitate access to the expressway.
Authorities expect the bypass to lower logistics costs, to enhance overall connectivity across eastern Uttar Pradesh and to contribute to long-term economic growth by enabling faster and safer transportation. The EPC delivery model concentrates responsibility for design and construction with the contractor, which the ministry views as a means to foster timely implementation. The project is portrayed as a key investment in regional infrastructure and in the movement of goods and people.
