The Telangana government has approved a major road infrastructure project in Hyderabad that comprises a six-lane bi-directional flyover and two uni-directional underpasses. The measure is intended to ease chronic traffic congestion across the Miyapur, Allwyn X Road, Hafeezpet and Bachupally corridors. Administrative clearance follows planning under the H-CITI initiative and allocation within the state budget.

The six-lane flyover will run from Miyapur X Road to Allwyn X Road and the scheme also includes a three-lane uni-directional underpass from Hafeezpet to Miyapur and a three-lane uni-directional underpass from Bachupally to Allwyn X Roads. Project planners intend the design to smooth vehicular flow and reduce bottlenecks at key junctions. The work is being advanced through a tender process managed by the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation and the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation projects wing.

Tenders were invited through the e-procurement system and the technical evaluation of bids was reviewed and approved by a government committee on February 10. The committee recommended awarding the contract to Shivasatya Engineering Services Private Limited based on the lowest bid and the contract was consequently allotted. The earlier administrative estimate for the scheme was Rs five point three billion (bn) and the published contract value stands at Rs 384.45.

Authorities expect the works to improve connectivity across the western periphery of the city and to shorten journey times for commuters who use the Miyapur and Allwyn corridors. Project execution will be subject to statutory clearances and monitoring by municipal engineers and the Superintending Engineer of the projects west zone of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation. The contractor is responsible for delivering the scheme under the stipulated contractual terms and for coordinating with local administrations during construction.
