The two-day national seminar Ran Samwad, anchored on the theme Multi-Domain Operations (MDO): An Imperative for Addressing Conventional and Irregular Threats, concluded at Air Force Training Command in Bengaluru on 10 April 2026. Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan delivered the closing address and emphasised convergence across physical, synthetic and cognitive realms. The gathering assembled senior officers and defence planners to examine operational challenges and integration pathways.

The CDS underlined the urgency of faster and smarter decision making in an artificial intelligence driven battlespace and said contemporary warfare spans time, cyber, the electromagnetic spectrum and cognition. He argued that these demands require seamless tri-service integration, innovative thinking and a shift from coordination to integration within the Indian Defence Forces (IDF). The discussions emphasised information advantage as central to achieving decision superiority.

General Chauhan announced that Ran Samwad 2027 would be organised on the theme High-Intensity Operations in a Transparent and Expanded Battlespace: Challenges for Force Application and Force Preservation and encouraged sustained interservice dialogue. He acknowledged the media's role in nation building and nurturing strategic culture. The second day featured sessions on doctrinal adaptation, training for MDO and reimagining operational art to align force structures with contemporary demands.

Deliberations addressed Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) integration for information superiority in MDO and the need for joint planning to synchronise resources and capabilities. The seminar is reported to have fostered a shared understanding of challenges posed by conventional and irregular threats and to have produced a collaborative road map for future work. The collaborative spirit over the two days reaffirmed the IDF commitment to achieving decision superiority and operational excellence in an increasingly contested multi-domain battlespace.
