The Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and Adjoining Areas (CAQM) conducted a special inspection drive in Noida on eight May 2026 to assess visible road dust and review road cleaning and sweeping operations. 19 flying squad teams constituted by the Commission were deployed across Noida, covering 46 road stretches under the jurisdiction of the NOIDA Authority. Inspectors observed 28 instances of high visible road dust and accumulation of construction and demolition waste at multiple locations. The locations included sectors 20, 21, 59, 62, 80, 82, 83, 84, 87, 88, 138, 140, 141 and 145.

The findings indicated deficiencies in regular sweeping operations, dust suppression measures and scientific handling and disposal of construction and demolition waste at certain stretches. The Commission directed the concerned authorities to intensify dust mitigation through regular mechanised sweeping, targeted water sprinkling and timely lifting and disposal of accumulated waste. The NOIDA Authority was advised to strengthen monitoring and enforcement mechanisms to prevent unauthorised dumping and to ensure sustained compliance with prescribed environmental norms. Officials were instructed to establish clearer accountability and to initiate appropriate action where lapses are identified.

The Commission emphasised that road dust is a major contributor to particulate pollution in urban areas and requires sustained mitigation efforts. It urged continuous field level vigilance, improved maintenance practices and accountability-driven implementation of dust control measures. The release noted that Operation Clean Air drives will continue across Delhi NCR as part of ongoing efforts to identify air pollution hotspots and mitigate localised sources. Concerned agencies and officials were recorded as assuring that corrective actions will follow from observations made during the inspection.

The Commission warned that persistent negligence by responsible officers will be viewed seriously and urged prompt corrective measures. Continued inspections will monitor compliance and outcomes of enforcement actions.
