Approvals under PMGSY-IV cover 973 roads totalling 2,117.52 kilometres at an estimated cost of Rs17,630.8 mn and will benefit 987 habitations across the state. The Vidisha parliamentary region received approval for 259 roads covering 600.393 kilometres to benefit 264 habitations, and roads worth more than Rs 5,000 mn will be built in that constituency. The minister said all roads meeting PMGSY norms in Madhya Pradesh will be considered and regional demands will be examined for practical decisions.
Under PM-JANMAN, projects covering 384.34 kilometres received approval worth Rs 2,618.1 mn to benefit 168 habitations. Madhya Pradesh was allocated Rs 8,300 mn of an indicative Rs 189,070 mn for PMGSY in 2026-27, and a mother sanction of Rs 20,550 mn under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin (PMAY-G) was handed to the chief minister to accelerate housing after surveys and verification. The minister said the Lakhpati Didi campaign will be accelerated through self-help groups to promote women's economic empowerment.
The minister said procurement processes for farmers would be completed fairly and that efforts are under way to devise farmer-friendly mechanisms for land acquisition and compensation. The programme honoured states for performance, noting Madhya Pradesh had completed 90,766 kilometres of roads and Bihar had connected 31,287 habitations. The event marked 25 years of PMGSY and the formal launch of PMGSY-IV to expand future-ready rural connectivity.
