PASCHAL Form Work India supplied formwork systems for the Avinashi Road Elevated Expressway project in Coimbatore, supporting construction of cast-in-situ crash barriers along the corridor.
The 10.1-km-long four-lane elevated corridor, stretching from Uppilipalayam Flyover to Goldwins Junction, is currently the longest elevated corridor in Tamil Nadu and the second longest in India. The project bypasses over 12 traffic intersections along Avinashi Road, one of Coimbatore’s key arterial routes.
PASCHAL deployed its Modular Universal Formwork system for the crash barrier works covering around 52,800 sq m of concrete area. The company supplied nearly the entire formwork requirement within 30 days to support the project schedule.
For the project, the company provided two sets of 60-metre-long modular crash barrier systems integrated with movable heavy-duty towers of 1.65 metres height, enabling concrete pouring through boom placers. According to the company, the modular system helped accelerate execution, improve engineering efficiency and maintain construction quality.
The company stated that the versatility of the modular formwork system enabled multiple geometric configurations for customised haunch shutters while ensuring efficient utilisation of material across both sides of the elevated corridor without affecting timelines.
PASCHAL added that the reusable and adaptable nature of its modular formwork system helped optimise time and costs across the project execution process.
