Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari inspected the DND–Faridabad–Sohna access controlled highway project, which aims to enhance connectivity across the Delhi–NCR and link the Noida International Airport at Jewar with the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway. The inspection included senior central and state officials from Delhi and Haryana and parliamentary representatives. The scheme is part of the Bharatmala Pariyojana to improve regional mobility.

The access controlled corridor extends approximately 59.063 km and is estimated at Rs 44.63 bn. The high-speed six-lane divided carriageway will connect Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Gurugram and Sohna to improve traffic movement and reduce travel time across the National Capital Region. The scheme includes a direct link to the Noida International Airport and connections with the Eastern Peripheral Expressway and the Yamuna Expressway.

Engineering highlights include a 140-metre Network Arch Bridge (NAB) designed with modern tied-arch technology and a crossed hanger arrangement to enhance resilience. The project uses precast segmental construction, launching girders and removable temporary steel pile supports over irrigation canals, along with high-strength E450 steel and Grade 10.9 bolts. High-damping rubber bearings and swivel expansion joints are specified to improve durability and seismic performance and to accelerate delivery.

Sustainable practices include the reuse of bio-mined inert material from Okhla and Ghazipur landfills, amounting to zero point two mn metric tonnes (t), together with noise barriers, landscaping and plantation works. A linked expressway to the Noida International Airport spans 31.425 km and is being built at an estimated Rs 23.6 bn, with four major interchanges and a rail over bridge in the alignment. A proposed elevated corridor and an eight-lane rail over bridge at the DFCCIL crossing will provide faster access from South Delhi, Faridabad and Gurugram. The scheme is projected to support economic growth, improve logistics efficiency and strengthen transport infrastructure across the region.
