MPRDC managing director Bharat Yadav, a 2008 batch IAS officer, said the corporation is integrating artificial intelligence across planning, detailed project report preparation, construction, operations and maintenance to strengthen decision making. The technology supports alignment selection, risk assessment, compliance monitoring and data analytics to reduce delays and cut costs, while AI led quality monitoring, drone enabled surveys and intelligent traffic systems form part of the digital toolkit. These measures aim to standardise processes and enhance project transparency for contractors and stakeholders.
As part of sustainability initiatives the corporation has planted nearly 0.257 million (mn) saplings at project sites with stakeholder participation, with plantations geo mapped and monitored by satellite and a survival rate of nearly 85 per cent for transplanted trees. Water conservation measures include the construction of 521 Lok Kalyan Sarovars using planned soil excavation and a target to develop 510 more in 2026-27. Rainwater harvesting and recharge bores are being integrated along road corridors and beneath urban flyovers and bridges to bolster local water resources.
Asset management has been strengthened through the Road Asset Management System under which scientific, data driven surveys of roads, bridges and related infrastructure are being conducted across the state to prioritise maintenance and rehabilitation. For road safety the corporation operates the ARS 2.0 Accident Response System on state highways, featuring GPS enabled ambulances, a toll free helpline and a Traffic Management Centre, while accident data analysis and black spot identification support improved emergency response.
Tendering reforms have tightened subcontracting norms, mandated adequate manpower and machinery and introduced safeguards against abnormally low bids to raise quality and accountability. Testing laboratories have been upgraded and digital initiatives such as the Lokpath app, digital road network planning modules and PM GatiShakti integration with BISAG N have been launched to improve planning and monitoring. Officials say the combined approach of technology, sustainability and governance is intended to extend asset life and deliver cost efficiencies across the road network.
