The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister, approved the widening of the Armoor?Jagtial?Mancherial section of National Highway 63 on the Hybrid Annuity Model and the Jagtial?Karimnagar section of National Highway 563 on Build?Operate?Transfer (Toll) to the four?lane standard under three work packages. The combined project length is 190.76 km and the combined capital cost is Rs 75,971.6 mn. The decision aims to address severe congestion and improve long distance connectivity in the State of Telangana.

The Armoor?Jagtial?Mancherial corridor passes through the districts of Nizamabad, Jagtial and Mancherial and currently faces heavy congestion in built?up areas including Anksapoor, Korutla, Jagtial, Dharmapuri, Lakshettipet and Mancherial. The Jagtial?Karimnagar section traverses densely occupied localities such as Jagtial, Potharam, Gangadhara and Karimnagar. The works combine brownfield widening and greenfield alignments to streamline traffic flow.

The projects are to be delivered with four lanes and bypasses around populated stretches, open tolling and a design speed of 100 km/hour to improve travel efficiency across Nizamabad, Jagtial, Mancherial and Karimnagar. They are aligned with the PM GatiShakti framework and are intended to connect five economic nodes, seven social nodes and 10 logistic nodes, thereby supporting freight movement and regional development. The Cabinet noted that these interventions should positively influence the country’s Logistic Performance Index.

Upon completion travel time is expected to reduce by about one hour and 30 minutes between Armoor and Mancherial and by about 45 minutes between Jagtial and Karimnagar while offering safer and faster connectivity for passenger and freight traffic. The projects are projected to yield substantial reductions in fuel consumption, carbon emissions and vehicle operating costs and to generate about 3.443 mn man?days of direct employment and about 4.27 mn man?days of indirect employment. The total capital cost is split across packages with Rs 24,717.6 mn, Rs 27,307.2 mn and Rs 23,946.8 mn respectively for the Armoor?Jagtial, Jagtial?Mancherial and Jagtial?Karimnagar sections.
