NHAI hosted a Capacity Building Session on Performance-Based Maintenance Contracts (PBMC) to strengthen maintenance practices across the National Highway network and support the transition from Short-Term Maintenance Contracts to outcome-based maintenance frameworks.
Addressing the session, NHAI Chairman Shri Santosh Kumar Yadav underlined the need for performance-driven maintenance practices to improve highway asset quality, operational efficiency and user experience.
L P Padhy, CGM, NHAI, led detailed discussions on the need to move from the Short-Term Maintenance Contract model to the PBMC framework. The session also covered PBMC fundamentals, operational and contract management challenges, and the way forward for effective implementation.The session highlighted key issues linked to the STMC model and outlined how PBMC can address them through outcome-based maintenance practices, stronger accountability and improved asset performance.
