The National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) informed the district administration that repair and restoration work would take a few days to complete due to the extent of the damage. The corporation assessed that the scale of the collapse required stabilisation measures and clearance of debris before resurfacing could begin. Local engineering teams and equipment were being mobilised and coordination with district authorities was underway to establish safe working procedures and logistics.
In view of public safety and the ongoing restoration effort, the district administration ordered the immediate closure of the Shillong–Dawki Road from Laitlyngkot village onwards for all public and vehicular movement. Commuters and travellers were advised to avoid undertaking journeys along the route beyond Laitlyngkot village during the period of closure and to follow official advisories for further updates. The administration indicated that restrictions would remain in force until further notice and alternative routes should be planned where feasible.
District officials continued to monitor the situation and said emergency response protocols had been activated to ensure public safety and expedite restoration. Local communities around Laitlyngkot village were being kept informed of progress and provided support where needed. Motorists using nearby highways were urged to heed official directions and plan journeys with the understanding that normal traffic flow would resume only after thorough assessments and completion of stabilisation works.
