Brahmaputra Infrastructure rose two point two eight per cent to Rs 163.95 after emerging as the L1 bidder for a Rs 701.8 Million road maintenance contract from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways in Mizoram.

The contract covers operation and maintenance of NH-502A from kilometre zero to kilometre 87.180, including monsoon maintenance, and is scheduled for execution over a period of 60 months.

The company said the project would strengthen its presence in the strategically important India-Myanmar border region and position it for future infrastructure opportunities in the Northeast. Brahmaputra Infrastructure is engaged in engineering, procurement and construction and real estate development, with operations spanning bridges, flyovers, highways, airports, buildings, tunnels and mining projects.

On a consolidated basis the company reported a net profit decline of 33.42 per cent to Rs 147.8 mn in the quarter ended March, while net sales fell 11.07 per cent to Rs 916.9 mn compared with the year earlier period. The figures reflect pressure on margins and sales volumes in the recent quarter and investors reacted by pushing the stock higher during trading.

The contract value of Rs 701.8 Million is presented as Rs 701.8 mn after conversion from the original crore denomination. Execution of the project over a five year period will require sustained mobilisation of resources and seasonal maintenance planning, and the award is likely to reinforce the firm's footprint along key border corridors and support its pursuit of further state and central government projects.
