Divisional Commissioner Anshul Garg (Div Com) chaired a multi disciplinary meeting on traffic management with senior representatives from the police, municipal corporation, transport department and public works wing. The session reviewed current congestion patterns, accident data and ongoing road works across the district. Participants outlined operational challenges and shared updates on recent enforcement and maintenance activities. The review also considered seasonal traffic variations and the impact of special events on peak flows.\n\nThe Div Com directed officials to prioritise identified accident prone stretches and to strengthen parking regulation and lane discipline. Attention was given to integration of public transport services with last mile connectivity and to enhancement of pedestrian infrastructure near markets and schools. Officials were asked to expedite installation of clear signage and high visibility road markings where required. Civil engineering teams provided updates on resurfacing schedules and drainage improvements to reduce skid risk.\n\nDiscussions covered greater use of technology to manage traffic flow, including expanded CCTV coverage, adaptive signal control and a central traffic management centre to coordinate responses. The meeting examined protocols for managing incidents, ensuring rapid clearance of breakdowns and coordinating diversions during planned works. Law enforcement commitments included enhanced patrols and targeted action against obstructive parking and unauthorised vendors. Planners discussed data sharing among agencies to enable evidence based decisions and to track incident trends over time.\n\nThe Div Com issued directives for a phased action plan with defined responsibilities and regular monitoring to assess impact on congestion and road safety. Departments were instructed to submit an integrated traffic management plan within one week and to commence priority measures immediately thereafter. A follow up meeting was scheduled to review progress and to refine measures based on monitored outcomes. Public awareness campaigns and stakeholder consultations were planned to ensure community cooperation and to improve road user behaviour.
