A major item approved was a stormwater line for Ward number 12 at Rs 22.3 mn to tackle long?standing rainwater accumulation. The scheme will lay 2,900 metres of 600 mm pipeline, 50 metres of 450 mm pipeline and 850 metres of 300 mm pipeline between Sarvodaya School, Radhe Radhe Party Plot, Om Park Main Road and Nandanvan 40 Foot Road. A tender estimated at Rs 27.9 mn received a bid from Siddhanath Construction at 19.91 per cent below estimate, leading to approval at Rs 22.3 mn, and the civic body said more than 10,000 residents are likely to get relief once the work is complete.
Thermoplastic road marking across the city was approved at Rs 11.4 mn under the Swarnim Jayanti Chief Minister Urban Development Scheme to improve road safety and traffic discipline. The project, estimated at Rs 17.5 mn, will include divider markings, zebra crossings, speed breaker markings, parking lines and centre lines and was awarded after Platinum Construction Company quoted 34.34 per cent lower rates. The committee said the measures are intended to enhance pedestrian safety and reduce accident risk.
Other approvals included Rs 4 mn for construction of two Anganwadis in Ward number three and a bi?annual rate contract for 37 sanitation items awarded to Somnath Enterprise with an annual limit of Rs 1.5 mn. A two?year contract for disposal of old records and waste paper was given to Gujarat Wastage Supply at Rs 21.51 per kg, with proceeds to be deposited in municipal accounts. The committee also approved allotment of Racecourse Ground at a token rate for an upcoming religious event.
