In a letter to the MP, NHAI chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav outlined the scope of works, which include laying load-bearing paver blocks, constructing cement concrete drains and shifting electrical lines along the stretch between km 722.330 and km 724.800. The measures will also cover utility shifting to facilitate road widening and pavement works without recurrent service disruptions. Technical specifications and tendering timetables were not disclosed in the communication.
NHAI said the works are expected to address long-standing issues arising from inadequate parking facilities, the absence of footpaths and traffic bottlenecks on the highway. The interventions are aimed at improving road safety for pedestrians and motorists and at facilitating smoother traffic flow through the town centre. Project engineers will need to coordinate with local authorities to manage traffic during construction to minimise disruption.
