Baldev Raj Sharma, the MLA for the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi constituency, today kick-started work on the construction and maintenance of the road from L142 Link Road Servad to Gunni road, at kilometre two towards Udhan under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana IV scheme, at an estimated cost of Rs 107 million (mn). The commencement of the project was described as the fulfilment of a long-pending and genuine demand of local residents who had sought improved road connectivity for many years. The project is expected to bring substantial relief to local residents by providing better, safer and more reliable transportation while strengthening links between habitations and adjoining areas. Improved connectivity is anticipated to facilitate easier access to education, healthcare, markets and other essential services and to support socio-economic development across the constituency. Local residents expressed gratitude for what they characterised as persistent follow-up and commitment by the MLA, who was credited with taking up public issues and translating development demands into concrete projects on the ground. The MLA directed the executing agency and the contractor to maintain a fast pace of work and to complete the project within the stipulated timeframe while strictly adhering to prescribed technical specifications and quality standards, insisting that there should be no compromise with construction quality and workmanship.\n\nHe reiterated his commitment to balanced and comprehensive development of the constituency with special focus on strengthening road connectivity and addressing long-pending infrastructure needs. The inauguration was attended by the AEE PMGSY Reasi, the AE PMGSY Reasi and their staff, alongside Sardari Lal Dubey, Ramesh Singh, Suresh Sharma, other prominent citizens and a large number of local residents.
