Among proposed investments, officials cited a 22.5 billion (bn) Coromandel industry and a 6.5 billion (bn) drinking water project to supply Vamsadhara river water to households through tap connections. The drinking water scheme is intended to expand coverage and improve service reliability in nearby habitations. The coalition government indicated it was prioritising rural roads, drinking water, electricity and other basic infrastructure in the area.
On fishermen's welfare, the minister confirmed that financial assistance during the annual fishing ban had been increased from Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 and that the social security pension for fishermen had been raised from Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,000, while diesel subsidy support would be continued. Officials said these measures were designed to provide interim relief and sustain livelihoods during restricted fishing periods. The state continues to pursue linked infrastructure and social schemes to support coastal communities.
