The existing bridge served as a crucial link to the city’s main market and its replacement has been described as a long-pending requirement. The minister said providing better basic infrastructure to the people was a top priority of the state government and that the modern steel structure would strengthen Ropar’s infrastructure. The project will streamline traffic and provide safer, more convenient transportation for residents, visitors and traders.
The minister said the replacement would provide major relief to commuters and traders visiting the market and give a fresh impetus to commercial activities. He noted that the government was undertaking development projects across Punjab to improve basic infrastructure in both urban and rural areas. Once completed, the new bridge will significantly improve connectivity and support economic activity in Ropar.
Ropar Aam Aadmi Party MLA Dinesh Chadha thanked the state government for fulfilling the long-standing demand and described the project as an important investment in the future development of the city. Residents and members of the business community welcomed the commencement of construction work and expressed hope that the new bridge will ease transportation and strengthen the local market economy.
