The chief minister, Rekha Gupta, said the structure will link Pitampura Metro Station, Madhuban Chowk Metro Station and Rohini District Court, improving access for metro passengers, advocates, court staff and residents. The design will enable pedestrians to use a grade separated route above the road so they need not cross the busy Outer Ring Road at street level. Officials expect the arrangement to reduce conflicts between pedestrians and vehicles and to enhance safety.
Authorities foresee that a dedicated pedestrian route at Madhuban Chowk will help streamline traffic flow on the Outer Ring Road and reduce congestion during peak hours. The facility will strengthen last mile connectivity between the metro network and important destinations in the surrounding area, encouraging greater use of public transport. The project forms part of broader efforts to promote sustainable mobility and to provide safer access to civic institutions.
Construction progress is being overseen by the PWD, which has prioritised pedestrian convenience and safety in the design, including accessible ramps and clear routing to metro entrances and the court complex. Once open, the skywalk and FOB are expected to support daily commuter movements and to integrate with the existing transport infrastructure.
