The government has decided to acquire certain wet and dry agricultural lands in the Eekadu Kandigai area of Tiruvallur district under the Tamil Nadu Highways Act. The Highways Department has issued a notification inviting objections from landowners. Those with objections may submit them in writing within thirty days at the SIDCO branch office premises in the Ambattur Industrial Estate in Chennai. Officials are assessing compensation frameworks and rehabilitation measures for affected cultivators.
Authorities said the remaining works are expected to be completed and opened to traffic within a year and that timelines will be synchronised with related urban upgrade projects. Several major roads in Chennai are planned to be upgraded into world class six lane roads to ease traffic congestion and improve travel speeds. The corridor is projected to unlock economic opportunities and reduce travel times for commuters and freight. Continued monitoring and stakeholder engagement will guide delivery of the scheme.
