Farmers’ associations in Kanniyakumari district have urged the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to restore waterbodies affected by its four-laning project, warning that disruptions to canals and tanks could hinder irrigation. NHAI authorities, however, said suitable drainage structures had been provided and restoration work was under way at several locations.
