The memorandum was signed by the Regional Officer of NHAI in Gandhinagar and the Chief Engineer for quality control, technology and central project coordination of SSNNL. Directors from SSNNL and other officials attended the signing ceremony in Gandhinagar.
Under the agreement, NHAI and SSNNL will mutually waive fees, charges and other levies for national highway, canal and pipeline crossings covered by the framework. The provision is expected to lower project costs, remove procedural delays and improve the use of public funds during infrastructure development.
The agreement also provides for the early exchange of project information and the adoption of standardised engineering practices. It sets out responsibilities for the construction and maintenance of crossing structures, with the aim of improving project planning, quality control and operational efficiency.
The framework is expected to support integrated infrastructure planning in Gujarat by bringing the two agencies closer together during project implementation. It covers both national highway and irrigation infrastructure and is intended to improve execution timelines while reducing financial implications linked to construction and maintenance. The arrangement also forms part of NHAI’s wider effort to strengthen connectivity and support economic activity through coordinated infrastructure development.
