The Naga Council Dimapur (NCD), Dimapur Urban Colony Chairmen Federation (DUCCF) and GB Union Dimapur Sadar made the appeal during a meeting with the deputy commissioner and revenue officer of Dimapur district on Thursday. The organisations said the project was important for improving connectivity and easing movement through the area.
According to the groups, the road will start at New Field Check Gate, cross the railway track and pass through Veterinary Colony in Burma Camp before reaching Bible House near the New Dhansari Bridge. The alignment covers a stretch that has remained pending despite the proposed route having been surveyed.
The organisations said government records showed that compensation had already been paid for the entire stretch of land along the surveyed alignment. They therefore maintained that construction should not face land-related disputes or encroachment issues once work begins.
The groups also urged the Directorate of Land Records and Survey in Dimapur to publicly release the official details of the surveyed and demarcated alignment. This should include the measurements and locations of boundary pillars, they said, adding that the information would help facilitate the immediate start of construction and support timely completion before the funds expire. The organisations assured the district administration of their cooperation in resolving any issues that may arise during execution of the project.
