The review covered roads, bridges, water supply and drainage projects being executed by the civic body. Mahajan instructed officials to use the post-monsoon dry-weather period to recover time lost during the rains, while maintaining construction speed and quality. Officials were also asked to remove administrative and technical bottlenecks affecting the long-pending Gharpure Ghat–Ramwadi bridge project.
The meeting examined the Dwarka–Sinnar Phata corridor and other bypass routes being prepared to manage regional traffic during the Kumbh preparations. The Gharpure Ghat–Ramwadi bridge is expected to improve connectivity and reduce traffic pressure in the area after completion. Officials also reviewed wider requirements linked to the movement of visitors and residents during the religious gathering.
NMC officials said work was underway on 18 major roads across Nashik, with nearly 90 per cent of utility-shifting work completed. The progress has cleared the way for road construction and surfacing activities, with asphalting and related works scheduled to gain momentum from November. Mahajan directed the administration to repair monsoon potholes on arterial and internal roads using standardised and durable restoration methods rather than temporary fixes.
The review also included sewage treatment plant projects at Tapovan and Agartakli, which officials have linked to improvements in the city’s drainage network and civic amenities. NMC commissioner Manisha Khatri said the proposed parallel road to Gangapur Road would be prioritised, with tenders expected to be floated within a month. Mayor Himgauri Adke, MLA Devyani Pharande, district collector Ayush Prasad, Kumbh Mela Authority commissioner Shekhar Singh and senior civic officials attended the meeting.
