The Joint Action Committee (JAC) on the Kohima–Jessami Road (NH-29) has set October 30, 2026, as the deadline for Ratna Infrastructure Projects to mobilise all required machinery and materials at the project site. The committee warned that it would initiate appropriate action if the contractor failed to honour its assurance.

The decision was taken at a joint meeting held at the Red Cross Building in Kohima on October 14. Representatives of Chakhesang frontal organisations, the Pochury, Sangtam and Angami communities, and a village representative from Kezoma attended the meeting.

Following deliberations, the JAC expressed strong resentment over what it described as continued negligence by Ratna Infrastructure Projects and the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL). It alleged that the failure of the contractor and NHIDCL to address the concerns of affected people had caused serious dissatisfaction among stakeholders.

The first resolution recorded that the October 30 deadline was based on a written assurance given by the project manager of Ratna Infrastructure Projects. The JAC said the company would be held solely responsible for any consequences arising from failure to fulfil the commitment and that the committee would be compelled to take appropriate action.

In its second resolution, the committee decided to write to the Executive Director of NHIDCL and the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor for Package-I. The proposed communication will urge both parties to immediately repair the damaged road stretch in accordance with the norms and provisions of the contract agreement. The resolution placed the mobilisation of equipment and materials, as well as road repairs, at the centre of the committee’s immediate demands.
