The proposed alignment of Srinagar Ring Road Phase 3, connecting Lasjan with Pandach, is under review amid concerns that it could encroach on a major water body. An alternative alignment is also being examined for the proposed Parimpora–Dalgate flyover.

Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg reviewed the proposed alignments on Wednesday and directed departments to assess alternatives before finalising the routes. He asked the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to prepare a detailed assessment of structures and public utilities falling within the proposed Lasjan–Pandach alignment.

The assessment will cover religious structures, potential obstacles and the financial implications of the proposed routes. Officials were also instructed to explore modifications that would enable the Ring Road project to avoid encroaching on the city’s major water body.

For the Parimpora–Dalgate flyover, Garg directed the Roads and Buildings Department to examine an alternative route through Qamarwari, Nalamar and Karanagar. The route is to retain connectivity to important facilities, including SMHS Hospital, while limiting traffic disruption during construction.

The directions indicate that both projects remain at the alignment review stage. Departments have been asked to assess the impact of the proposed routes on existing infrastructure, public facilities and traffic movement, while coordinating their findings and considering public convenience.

The meeting was attended by the Commissioner of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Senior Superintendent of Police Traffic, Vice Chairman of the Lakes Conservation and Management Authority, NHAI’s Project Director and officers from the Roads and Buildings, Irrigation and Flood Control, Srinagar Development Authority and other departments. No final decision on revised alignments was announced.
