The meeting was chaired by Vanlalzuala Chenkual, PWD Chief Engineer (Planning) and Empowered Officer of the Mizoram Rural Road Development Agency (MiRRDA). The review examined the progress of works being undertaken under the rural roads programme and discussed preparations for the next phase.
PWD Engineer-in-Chief and MiRRDA Chief Executive Officer David Sapzova said PMGSY-IV would begin soon, with tenders for the 45 roads expected to be issued in November. The tendering process will mark the start of the state’s implementation of the fourth phase and allow work on the identified roads to move forward.
Sapzova directed officials to expedite the completion of pending works under the programme. He also instructed them to ensure the proper maintenance of roads and allied infrastructure, highlighting the need to protect existing assets while new projects are taken up.
During the review, Sapzova stressed the importance of quality implementation across PMGSY-IV projects. He said the department’s work was directly linked to public welfare and rural connectivity, placing responsibility on officials to maintain construction standards and complete projects efficiently. The focus on pending works, maintenance and quality is intended to support the wider objectives of the rural road programme in Mizoram.
