The agreement covers the upgrading and widening of major district road MDR-22 between Khaira and Ogli. It also provides for construction of a 152-metre bridge across the Sutlej River between Ogli and Parlog.
The works are intended to improve road connectivity in areas affected by the project, support smoother movement and provide safer and more convenient transport for local residents. The initiative is also expected to contribute to regional development around the project area.
The MoU was signed by PWD Superintending Engineer Deepak Raj Chauhan and SJVNL Executive Director Vikas Sharma in the presence of Himachal Pradesh Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh in Shimla on Wednesday. The minister reviewed the progress of works being undertaken by SJVNL and other departments involved in the project.
The review included matters concerning the Jal Shakti Department, the Sunni division and the project authorities. Singh directed officials to ensure effective implementation, strengthen coordination between departments and resolve pending issues in a timely manner.
The state government reiterated its focus on improving infrastructure and public facilities for residents in project-affected areas. The works are expected to support development activity, particularly in the Shimla Rural Assembly constituency, while addressing connectivity requirements linked to the Sunni Dam project.
